Clinton Global Initiative

Project Description: 

The Challenge: Launch a new website for the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) in time for their second annual meeting in 2006, enhance brand awareness, solicit public involvement in the campaign in 2007, and promote the former President’s “Giving” book. At CGI, Global leaders, CEOs, organizations, and heads of state come together to make massive commitments to help solve the world's greatest problems and build a more interconnected world with shared benefits, responsibilities, and values.

The Solution: Build a website that showcases results from various commitments to the foundation, and houses a public forum for the general public to get involved, support the pledges of others, and initiate their own commitments. We also created a complementary website for the former President’s “Giving” book with similar community empowering features.

In a matter of just two months, EchoDitto planned, designed, built, and deployed two completely separate websites – mycommitment.org and Bill Clinton’s Giving book site, giving.clintonfoundation.org.

Both websites were delivered on an aggressive timeline and feature technology that builds community through user-generated content. We launched the projects in time to coordinate with major offline PR and outreach, and received positive reviews and excellent grassroots response.

EchoDitto worked with both the Clinton Foundation and CGI to create engaging, interactive, and informative online presences. We outlined the project goals of the site and handled the nuts and bolts of the operation. We drafted information architecture documents, wireframes and site maps; identified partners that could work under tight time constraints; and implemented systems that enable staff to post commitments from world leaders, CEOs, preeminent scholars, and representatives of key non-governmental organizations. Individual citizens were empowered to contribute and track their own personal commitments through the mycommitment.org website.

The Giving website not only gives information about the book and where to buy it, but also provides the opportunity to share a personal story of giving. We created a space to collect the stories of those people and organizations working around the globe to better our world.

EchoDitto sees the MyCommitment.org project in particular as a bold move for President Clinton and CGI, and we were honored to work on developing and implementing this campaign with the President's team.
