EchoDitto's, President Nicco Mele and Director and Senior Strategist Michael Silberman were featured in The George Washington University’s latest IPDI (Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet) book, "Person to Person to Person," a publication on social networking and user-generated content. The book is a collection of practical advice, analysis, and predictions from 20 of today’s top names in Internet enterprise and Politics, and addresses how online social networks enable political organizations, non-profits, campaigns and advocacy groups to become successful.
Silberman’s article, "How Howard Dean turned Online Social Networks into an Offline Phenomenon," speaks to the potential of using online social networks to generate real-world action through the example of the Howard Dean presidential campaign, where Silberman directed the national meetup program. The article also provides advice for using the internet to build and sustain a successful distributed grassroots network.
Mele’s article (written with David K. Cohen), "Video Games Are Political Tools," delves into the world of online gaming and its uses for political or commercial advertising. Mele addresses "in-game advertising," product-placement within virtual worlds like that of Second Life, as well as politically-charged video games like "Darfur is Dying" and "Peacemaker" and their role in the evolution of online and offline gaming.
