Nationals, Mets and Mafia

September 19, 2007 - 1:37pm

Last night a group of Ditto's and friends-of-Ditto's made our way to RFK Stadium to watch the Nationals eek out the Mets. It was beautiful. I mean really beautiful! The scenery was quite nice.

We started the evening with a game of Mafia, where Tom and I first killed off JP and then Jason. Everyone thought HR was a dead ringer for a member of The Family but alas he was innocent. Thanks to Chris and Jason for organizing the game.

Then it was off to RFK Stadium. After the Mets built a decent lead on the Nationals, Washington scored five runs in the fifth to take the lead for good and knock the Mets to the losing end for the fifth straight game. Ronnie Belliard was the hero who capped the Nationals' big fifth inning with a three-run homer. We got a little nervous when New York scored once in the ninth to slim Washington's lead to 9-8, but soon relaxed with nothing to worry about when pinch-hitter Ruben Gotay struck out with runners at the corners to end it. Ah, the sweet smell of victory!

And did I mention the Mets fans?!? Oh, those Mets fans. Nicco, Harish, Jason and Ethan cheered loudly and clearly for the their New York brothers. But no Mets fan left a greater impression than the very animated troublemaker in front of us. Your loyalty, dear sir, was admirable (and amusing) but in the end the Nats came out on top. Thanks for the chuckles!

Many thanks to the New York team for making the trek to DC for the night. It was not the same without the missing Ditto’s – your absence was felt. The night was memorable and reminded me of one of the cornerstones of working at EchoDitto – have a ball!

What a difference 24 hours makes! Just think, a mere 24 hours ago, thousands of Mets fans(At RFK Stadium in DC.....YES!) left saddened by the most unlikely occurence of the Nationals actually beating us, 9-8 on Tuesday evening. Ok, fast forward to Wednesday night where the Almighty Mets redeem themselves by opening up a can of whoop a** on the Nationals beating them 8-4! That's right, the same "animated troublemaker" was present the following night to cheer on the M-E-T-S, Mets..Mets..Mets!!! The gang from Echoditto was mad cool! It was great to meet each of you! For those that actually call yourselves Nationals fans I have just one final word in closing,(pause for effect).....PLAYOFFS!!!
