Facebook to Acquire EchoDitto

MENLO PARK, CALIF. AND SOMERVILLE, MASS. – March 31, 2014 – Facebook announced today that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire EchoDitto, a veteran digital services agency, for a total of approximately $3 billion, including $1 billion in cash and an additional $2 billion in restricted Bitcoins to be granted to EchoDitto's founders and employees that will vest over four years subsequent to closing.'s Big Failure

The fiasco is a timely case study in how "big" is a liability in today's age of radical connectivity. Big institutions - a giant federal bureaucracy, huge technology contractors, and a bloated government procurement process - spent over $500,000,000 creating a glorified webform -- and failed. But these big organizations never stood a chance, and smaller, more agile, and nimbler firms and processes could have mitigated these risks which now threaten the President's legacy.
