Front-End Developer

      EchoDitto is seeking a talented front-end developer to join our technical team and help us design innovative Web-based tools for progressive online activism and community building.

      The front-end developer is responsible for helping us transform our designs into compelling user experiences. Specifically, the front-end developer works extensively with our design and development teams to turn static designs into ready-to-eat themes for popular open-source frameworks such as Drupal and Wordpress. S/he may also be involved in the development of client-side interactivity such as Javascript or Flash.

      What you'll need:

      • Bachelor's degree in a related field (design, computer science) or significant equivalent experience.
      • 2 years minimum experience with HTML/XHTML and CSS.
      • Ability to create standards-compliant markup and knowledge of accessibility requirements.
      • 2 years minimum experience with the Adobe editing suite (Photoshop, Fireworks) or similar tools.
      • Experience theming open-source CMS frameworks such as Drupal and Wordpress.
      • Familiarity with popular Javascript libraries such as jQuery, Prototype and Mootools.
      • Excellent communication skills, the ability to organize and manage a variety of projects and deadlines, and the ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external resources.
      • An interest in sharing knowledge about new technologies with the team and facilitating the adoption of state-of-the-art front-end development technologies across projects.

      Other things we get excited about:

      • Expertise in CSS3/HTML5 a big plus.
      • Experience with CSS extensions and frameworks such as LESS, 960gs, etc.
      • Familiarity with Adobe Flash and ActionScript 3.
      • A strong design aesthetic.
      • An active online presence (blog, Twitter, etc.)
      • An interest in bicycling, foosball, gardening, horseback riding, carpentry, homebrewing or other assorted craftiness.
