Service and volunteering has many faces. It can involve volunteering at your local food bank, phone banking for your local environmental organization, or tutoring students. This Veterans Day (November 11th), a national campaign called Mission Serve is asking all Americans to think of service in a broader way. Mission Serve aims to build a bridge between the sacrifice and service our military veterans have given to our country and the work so many Americans do every day to strengthen our communities.

Service Nation is a national coalition aimed at increasing service opportunities in our country as well as simply making it easier for anyone to serve. They are currently leading the Mission Serve campaign which has involved organizing thousands of organizations across the country to create the largest list of veterans’ related volunteer opportunities in the country.

Their ask is simple. Visit their website http://missionserve.org/ and find an opportunity near you to serve on Veterans Day. You can also post an event or project you are interested in holding.

Working behind the scenes to help make this initiative possible is All for Good, an organization (and EchoDitto client) that operates the largest volunteer database in the country. Thousands of organizations across the country post their volunteer and service opportunities to the database, and many websites ranging from Serve.gov to HuffingtonPost.com to CreateTheGood.org use the database to allow their visitors to search for volunteer opportunities near them. EchoDitto is helping All for Good and Service Nation with partnerships, outreach, and strategic guidance.
