The new MotherJones.com takes advantage of Drupal’s state-of-the-art content management system, with built-in support for multiple authors, revisions, and content moderation. Probably most noticeable to readers, though, is the new slick, modern design, created by designer Steve Lyons. Readers and staff alike will benefit from a fully customized comments moderation and display system that helps users better track and respond to conversations on the site.
The decision to use Drupal here was technical, for sure, but it was also something of a philosophical decision: as the Editors in Chief put it, "the basic code that runs Mother Jones is available to anyone, anywhere; we'll also put some of our custom work back into the public domain so other people can use it to build their own projects.
