When Independent World Television (IWT) set out to become the world's first global independent news network, they turned to EchoDitto to guide them through the process of building an online community of supporters and donors. Without government or corporate underwriting, IWT sought to fund their operation entirely on small dollar donations from its viewers.

EchoDitto designed and built a dynamic community website for IWT supporters using an open-source content management system (Drupal). Long before YouTube (or even Flash video) entered the scene, EchoDitto developed an online video management system, allowing IWT to upload video clips that were immediately made available through an embedded QuickTime player. EchoDitto also integrated the website with Paypal, enabling supporters to make online donations in a variety of currencies.

IWTnews.com launched on June 15, 2005. Almost immediately, their compelling blog and multimedia content began attracting donors and supporters. After two years and supporters numbering in the tens of thousands, IWT has raised enough money to launch their second phase website. EchoDitto is proud to support the launch of the world’s first truly independent television news.
